SATURDAY, 3/15 from noon to 4pm -> We just sprang forward and Summer’s around the corner, what better way to get ready for it than a special edition Austin Goodness w/DJ Low Key & friends during SXSW. We’ll be teaming back up with world renowned BBQ spot, La Barbecue (recently named one of the country’s best new restaurants by GQ Magazine, and also the home of the 2014 SX Solution Showcase later in the day), one of our favorite music blogs/sites, Potholes In My Blog, the homies at Acrylick and nationally acclaimed Leann Mueller Photography company to build on last year’s unforgettable SX704 Solution Showcase and feature even more amazing talent from around the US. To sweeten the deal, we’ve also got free beer all day with no cover, RSVPs or wristbands required to join us. While Austin’s known for BBQ and there are many exceptional establishments in town, La Barbecue has a more renowned pedigree and pitboss than almost any spot in Texas (the yelp reviews explain things well here) and is generally considered to run neck and neck with Franklin’s (the one from the current Mastercard commercial with Chef Nobu) for the #1 spot in the Austin/regional BBQ hierarchy. Here’s a little more about La Barbecue:

SUNDAY, 2/16 from 2-10pm -> Every time the weather gets over 50 degrees on a Sunday I get text messages from people saying they miss Goodness and I basically respond the same way every time, “you think you miss it, that’s my baby! LOL”.  With that said, on Sunday, 2/16/14, for one day only, we’ll be bringing Goodness w/DJ Low Key & friends back for a Winter, all J Dilla edition on the Meadowlark’s incredible, newly enclosed and of course, heated patio (2701 Larimer St).  With this Winter Goodness doubling as The Solution’s 8th Annual J Dilla Celebration, I’ll be joined by Lazy Eyez & DJ Spyda T.E.K. as we dig deep in the crates to bring you an 8 hour shift of Jay Dee classics, rarities, samples, b-sides and so on.

Official Solution photographer Knower Of The Ledge will be in the building snapping flicks and we’re excited to be welcoming our friends Judith & Joe Fashion & Records mobile boutique back out to join the fun. As if that wasn’t enough, Moontower Tacos will be back in the building, serving their insanely good food. The icing on the cake though, is that me and the cooks at Moontower are creating a special Dilla Taco that’s gonna be incredible (think about how delicious their chicken & waffle taco is for an example of how the magic of sweet, savory and spicy will play out), as well as some other tasty treats. Things are getting going an hour earlier than Goodness 2013, at 2pm, and we’re rocking til 10 at night. Turn it up!!! No Cover / 21+.

SUNDAY, 9/22 at 3pm -> Ah, parting is such sweet sorrow.  We all knew it was coming and it’s here, the last Goodness of Summer 2013.  With that said, Summer 2013 has been INCREDIBLE and trust, the party is going to close it out in grand fashion.  As always, the DJ lineup is extra dope, with me, DJ Forge (2-time Red Bull Thre3 Style NC Champ / Jukebox Heroes), Basementalism legend Inka One (Los Angeles / Boombox), 2013 Westword “best hip hop DJ in Denver” winner Lazy Eyez & a surprise guest blessing the turntables.

So yeah, you’re more than covered on music, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg.  To commemorate another fantastic Summer, we’re having Gabe/Filthe come in to do complimentary bring your own shirt screenprinting.  What does that mean, you ask?  It meas you can bring in a blank shirt to the party and we’ll turn it into a fresh, Goodness 2013 tee on the spot, for free!!!  Yeah, that’s gonna be kinda dope.  There’s a lot more going on though, I’m gonna let the pictures help with the rest.

SUNDAY, 9/8 at 3pm -> Some people say Labor Day marks the end of Summer, but they’re way wrong.  Sunday, 9/22 is the Autumn Equinox and coincidentally the last day of Goodness 2013 (put it in your calendar now).  On that note, Summer keeps marching on in grand fashion with everything Colorado Crush this weekend, including Sunday’s Colorado Crush Farewell Goodness w/me, special guests DJ Tense (Stay Tuned) & DJ Miggy Camacho (Lucha Rama), live art by ridiculously dope writers Miss Reds-AM7 & Deity, food by The Meadowlark Kitchen (menu below) & more on the Meadowlark’s incredible patio  (2701 Larimer St).

Colorado Crush is a ridiculously dope art festival going into it’s forth year of bringing CO all sorts of dope art, music & culture and is also responsible for a lot of the beautiful art around 27th & Larimer Street aka the Meadowlark’s neighborhood aka RiNo.  The flyer above has details on Saturday’s prime event (head over to Hiphoprollcall.com for more on all the weekend’s festivities), now that you know all about that and Sunday’s farewell party.

MONDAY, 9/2 at 3PM -> Styles upon styles upon styles.  Yep, it’s that time again.  With Labor Day here, we’re having another bonus Power To The DJs edition of Goodness w/DJ Low Key & friends, featuring 15+ of Denver’s best DJs, spinning in one spot. On top of great music, we’ll also have some Rockies ticket giveaways and some fun surprises if you join the Power To The DJs e-mail list.  The e-mail list will help all the DJs and everyone who comes stay in better touch, hopefully helping make the scene a little bit better.  The party’s at the award-winning Meadowlark (2701 Larimer St) and kicks off at 3pm sharp.  Shouts to DJ Dozen for helping make the whole event happen and all the great DJs involved.  More info coming soon here and at @feel_goodness.

SUNDAY, 9/1 at 3PM -> Damn.  It’s already September, the last month of Goodness w/DJ Low Key & friends on the Meadowlark’s patio.  Ugh.  It hurts to type that, but it’s true, and on that note, we’re definitely going to be making the most of the month, starting with this weekend’s Mas Chingon Goodness, featuring two ridiculously dope special guests, DJ Amen (Radio Bums) & DJ Wushu (Bass Crooks), joining me on the turntables.

Why’s it called Mas Chingon Goodness, you ask?  Because we’re bringing back Chef David Lopez and the El Chingon crew to do tacos for us for one week only!  If you came out to any Goodnesses in 2012, you already know that they make some incredible (the more traditional yin to Moontower’s fusion yang) tacos and a whole lot more and with their new location at 44th and Tennyson not quite open yet, this party is your best chance to get your Chingon fix for a minute.  21+ / No Cover / 3-10pm.

SUNDAY, 8/25 at 3PM -> It’s that time of year again, school is back and while that really doesn’t have anything to do with my “grown up”, post-college, DJ for living lifestyle, I know in some way, shape or form, it effects everybody else.  On that note, we’re marking the occasion with Back To School Goodness w/DJ Low Key & friends on the Meadowlark’s patio with special guests DJ Soup & DJ Matt Cassidy joining me on the turntables.  We’ll also have culinary guests The Cluck Truck in the house with delicious, Southern-style fried chicken and lots more (don’t worry, Moontower Tacos will be back next month). 21+ / No Cover / 3-10pm.

SUNDAY at 3PM -> Looking forward to this week’s concept for Goodness w/DJ Low Key & friends extra.  I’m bringing in special guests DJ Petey and DJ Ear Attent to join me for an all 80s and 90s themed R&B Goodness; with the three of us spinning everything dope from early 80s joints by Mtume and the S.O.S. Band to new jack swing kings like New Edition and Keith Sweat to early work by D’Angelo and Erykah Badu and lots more.  We’ll also be celebrating Denver favorite BiggPolo’s birthday and featuring food from our favorites Moontower Tacos & Denver Dessert Trolley for what promises to be an amazing day on the Meadowlark’s incredible patio.  21+ / No Cover / 3-10pm.

SUNDAY at 3PM -> Things keep rolling forward with a great vibe at Goodness w/DJ Low Key & friends this Summer.  Last weekend, DJR came in from LA and changed lives with one of the best DJ sets I’ve ever seen (that’s him smoking and DJing below…LOL), while DJ Squirt & Sounds Supreme blessed the crowd as well.

This Sunday we’re teaming up with The Spirit of Hip Hop Park Jam, one of Denver’s best annual hip hop events to present their official afterparty with special guests Deejay SD, A-L, Mike Wird & maybe a surprise or two.  Check the flyer for more info on the jam, which kicks off at noon and is a perfect way to get your day going before heading over to the Meadowlark for Goodness.

A-L & Mike Wird will have some limited edition 7″ vinyl picture discs on hands and if that wasn’t enough, they’ll also be premiering the new video from The Soul Pros (A-L & Mike Wird), “Peace In The Mile High (Summertime)”, directed by Detour & Jolt, at sundown.  You already know Moontower Tacos has us covered with incredible tacos (including the delicious new Goodness Taco, pictured below) and Denver Dessert Trolley is serving up desserts (word is they want to have another ‘twerk for treats’ contest for free desserts too).  21+ / No Cover / 3-10pm.
