Can’t get enough of this newness! Shouts to CRL CRRLL & Big J. Beats on this incredible remix of “Cheers”, the first release on The Solution Records!!!
Maybe you already heard it at The Solution, Goodness w/DJ Low Key & friends, at a recent live CRL CRRLL show, on Ultra5280 or its radio premier via Venus Cruz’s Jazz Odyssey Wednesdays on KUVO Jazz last week.
Maybe you got to the WAVE release party early and caught one of the 100 limited 6″ dub plates (b/w Mister Freedom’s super dope “Kevin Ware”) we gave away at last weekend’s Red Bull Sound Select.
Regardless, the CRL CRRLL “Cheers (Big J. Beats Remix)” is now online for your listening pleasure! Big J. Beats’s take on our official party anthem is FANTASTIC – a triumphantly upbeat, disco funked out version that’s perfect for dance floors, late Summer BBQs and anywhere else celebratory vibes might be needed!!!

P.S. Above is a download link posted for DJs, MP3s collectors and such as well as a stream, enjoy!

THURSDAY, 6/25 -> My last Red Bull Sound Select show with headliner Tokimonsta in March was INSANE, filled with a ton of music fans going crazy and ranting more about the lineup that just about any show I’ve ever thrown (no exaggeration, most everyone there was BLOWN AWAY by the 1-2-3 punch of Fast4ward, CRL & Anderson, and they were just the openers). With that said, I’m super excited to be curating my next RBSS show on Thursday, 6/25, featuring Funkmosphere ruler supreme and Stones Throw favorite DâM-FunK, Colorado’s best kept secret Fast4ward, the one of one sounds of Oren L (and his band Killing Kings) and host DJ Lazy Eyez at Lost Lake!!!
If you’re not up on his music, DâM-FunK is one of the most unique acts in today’s musical landscape, bringing the feel good vibes of classic funk and boogie into the 21st century while collaborating with the likes of Snoop Dogg (on the full-length album, 7 Days Of Funk), Toro Y Moi, Steve Arrington, Reggie B, pretty much the entire Stones Throw roster and lots more.
DaM’s live show combines impressive synthwork, DJing, singing and more for a crazy vibe that always sends crowds home smiling. Dam’s just wrapping up a tour with prog-rock legend Todd Rundgren, just dropped a quick 4 song instrumental EP called STFU on StonesThrow.com to rave reviews and is sure to leave Denver in a funk-fueled daze like we’ve never seen before.
Full-fledged musical genius and in my opinion, easily one of the most slept-on artists in the entire country, Fast4ward is also on the bill, bringing his unique, one man band show to Lost Lake for the night. He combines ridiculous skills on everything from turntables to keys to woodwinds to beatboxing in an ever-shifting way that always leaves crowds stunned in amazement. If you’re seen him before, prepare yourself to see him do something different and wildly impressive that the last time and if you’ve never seen him, set your expectations very high and prepare to still be impressed.
Rounding out the bill, Oren L & Killing Kings is back on it and bringing their latest sounds to the show after spending most of the Winter working on music and their new live show. Oren was an integral part of Denver’s renowned collective The Foodchain before releasing his very strong BS|BS|BC solo debut last Summer to a great response. He’ll be rocking with his band Killing Kings, a special guests or two and giving Denver a taste of what him and the band have been working on lately; don’t miss it!!!
Things get started at 8pm sharp and with a crazy strong lineup, small venue and Dam headlining, the show should fill up early, I’d highly recommend getting there early. If the super dope lineup wasn’t enough, you can RSVP at RedBullSoundSelect.com for $3 entry (that’s right, only $3!!! It’s first come, first serve though, so get to Lost Lake early) and also get access to some top quality music, videos and lots more. Otherwise, the show’s still quite a deal at the $15 door price, just make sure you show up early, because being ready to pay a $15 cover does you no good at a show that’s packed and at capacity before you get there. Last but not least, shouts to Meeg Conroy (IG: @Miss.Meeg) on the INCREDIBLE hand-drawn artwork for the show! 18+/8pm/3602 E Colfax Ave.
.:RSVP for $3 admission HERE:.
P.S. Stay tuned for more great monthly Red Bull Sound Select shows and new music in Denver, curated by myself, Souls In Action & The UMS, all year long (plus more shows all over the country)!!!
SUNDAY, 5/3 at 2pm -> Goodness w/DJ Low Key & friends is back for season 4 and we couldn’t be happier!!! Last Summer was INCREDIBLE and we can’t wait to pick up where we left off last Fall, rocking all sorts of great music, drinking agua frescas and enjoying the best company possible on the Meadowlark’s magical patio (2701 Larimer St)!
To kick off season 4, we’re excited to be bringing out not one, but two ridicululously talented guests to join me on the turntables; legendary rapper/host/DJ (Mad) Skillz from Virginia and one of my favorite DJs in the whole country, Houston’s own Dayta! Skillz has classic rap records with the likes of Q-Tip, The Beatnuts, The Neptunes, Missy & Timbaland, spent the last decade plus on the road as Jazzy Jeff’s official MC and recently just got back from DJing on the Pinkprint tour in Europe. He’s a hip hop legend and the perfect person to help kick off season 4, both as a host and DJ.
Also in from out of town is Dayta, the super dope DJ who just shared the stage with Just Blaze at the SXSW Serato/Okayplayer showcase and keeps Texas up on all the best new music. Dude has some of the best, most unique selection you’re gonna hear all year, come see for yourself!
As if that wasn’t enough, we’re also excited to welcome out Denver’s best kept secret; the man, the myth himself, Fast4ward. If you haven’t seen his one of a kind performances before, you’re gonna have your mind blown and if you have seen him, I’m sure he’ll flip the show, because that’s what he does every time and it’s part of the magic.
We’ve also got two of Denver’s best artists, the infamous Joseph Martinez & Jaime Molina painting live at the party again! Their piece from last Summer’s opener was unbelievably dope and I’m sure whatever they cook up this year will be crazy too!
For food, we’ve proud to announce we’re gonna be working with the fine folks at Cart-Driver (just named best pizza in Denver by Westword’s Best Of Issue) to give y’all COMPLIMENTARY pizza throughout the day to get the season started right. Free pizza that’s the best in town? That’s the plan for the season opener, hopefully you enjoy it!
We’re also happy to be celebrating the birthday of the one and only DJ Discord of the Crunk Brothers, Denver’s favorite Brazilian music expert, so if you see him, wish him the best! To round out the day, ZenOne is also gonna be in the building with some raffles you don’t wanna miss, you already now we’ll have our renowned agua frescas on deck, and as always, official Goodness/Solution photographer Knower Of The Ledge will be in the taking pictures of the party (follow us on Instagram: @GDNSS, if you don’t already). Last but not least, a couple of quick changes to try to make things at the party run smoother:
-We moved the start time up an hour to 2pm, because no matter what, Sundays always seem to fly by too quick.
-We’re gonna start using the front entrance to the bar on the corner of 27th & Larimer St (instead of the side patio entrance).
-Using the front entrance, well be able to open the inside bar, shorten the wait for drinks throughout the day and also relieve the giant clusterfuck of people by the side door/patio bar outside (plus it should be a nice spot to cool off or have a quieter conversation midday too).
-Also, we got stamp. It way cooler than an X on your hand from the door guy.
P.S. On another note, some Latvian rappers (I can’t make this shit up) decided to try to take over the ‪#‎GDNSS‬ hashtag over the Winter and cluttered it up with a strange Eastern block Euro wannabe rap song. PLEASE do me and the party a favor and add #GDNSS to your posts about everything this Summer so we can hopefully reclaim the hashtag we started! I know it’s silly, but thanks in advance Denver!!!

THURSDAY, 3/5 -> Last year, I had the honor of curating three Red Bull Sound Select shows in Denver, bringing out the legendary Bun B for a long overdue Denver debut, prodigious rapper Vic Mensa & Leather Chords for their first CO gigs and musical genius Exile and his Dirty Science crew, as well as featuring some of my all-time favorite Colorado artists & more. Now it’s 2015 and I’m super excited my first RBSS show of the new year; Tokimonsta, Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals, CRL CRRLL, Fast4ward & host Lazy Eyez at Larimer Lounge!!! While I’m a hip hop dude first and foremost, anyone who’s seen me DJ knows that my taste in music goes a lot deeper and this show is a great example, filled with incredible artists that have hip hop roots/elements/etc in their music, but make experimental music that doesn’t really fit into a box, in the best way possible.
If you’re not familiar, Tokimonsta‘s an INSANE producer/DJ from Los Angeles who debuted on Flying Lotus’s Brainfeeder label after blowing cats away at RBMA years prior. Her “2 On” remix was probably the single best remix I heard in 2014 and her latest EP, Desiderium, stays in heavy rotation. The first single from Desiderium is called “Realla” & features the show’s other out of town guest, the unbelievably talented Anderson .Paak.
Formerly known as Breezy Lovejoy, Anderson .Paak put out both mine & Lazy Eyez’s favorite album of 2014, his stunning debut Venice. Soulfully drawing from a variety musical styles, Anderson’s music includes elements of R&B, rock, funk, house & more, but comes together for a sound that only he seems to be able to pull off. He’ll be rocking with his band The Free Nationals and based off of everything I’ve heard and the music, their live show is one of the best in music right now. Anderson also just dropped the first single from his upcoming collaboration No Worries project with Knxwledge on Stones Throw, check it below.
Multi-talented, experimental singer/songwriter/producer CRL CRRLL‘s sound is also hard to box in, covering everything from soulful dance tracks, emotive downtempo joints to sophisticated pop anthems with ease. Fast4ward rounds out the bill with his own, one-of-a-kind skills, combining everything from turntables and beatboxing to piccolos and live guitars to create one of the most entertaining live shows I’ve ever seen. Him and CRL CRRLL will be performing their own music, but they’ve also been collaborating in the studio and have a few surprises in store for us, so make sure to come out early to see what they have in store.
Things get started at 8pm sharp and with a super dope lineup, pretty small venue and Tokimonsta headlining, the show should fill up early, so I’d highly recommend getting there early. As if the stacked bill wasn’t enough, you can RSVP at RedBullSoundSelect.com for $3 entry (that’s right, only $3!!! Less than $1 per musical genius on-stage! It’s first come, first serve though, so get there early) and also get access to some great music, videos and more online. Otherwise, it’s still quite a deal at the $15 walk up price, just make sure you show up early, because being ready to pay a $15 cover does you no good at a sold out show. 18+/8pm/2712 Larimer Street.

FRIDAY, 2/6 at 7pm -> 8 years. Wow. Seems like just yesterday that me & Sounds Supreme started The Solution with no grand plans, just an idea to make the kind of party we wanted to go to and have doing it. At the time, we didn’t know quite what that was, but we knew we were tired of playing the same top 40 records for whatever crowd happened to walk into the club/bar that offered us the most money on a Friday night. The Solution wasn’t the first time either of us tried to start our own party, but somehow we were able to use everything we had learned from previous attempts to promote our own events, combine that with a large amount of youthful determination and somehow get the party of to a good enough start to ride through the initial struggle that starting anything different and unique can be.
Over the last 8 years, we’ve bounced around venues, Sounds Supreme fell back from weekly duties and Lazy Eyez joined the party, we added our official photographer Knower Of The Ledge, we’ve thrown a bunch of offshoot events and done of lot of pretty damn cool stuff, that frankly, I wouldn’t have ever considered a possibility when our little party started. All the changes and particularly the success we’ve had since partnering up with The Meadowlark (who we can’t praise enough) have us hungrier than ever and excited about how far we can take the party. That’s led us to film a video for CRL CRRLL’s “Cheers”, launch a small Solution Records label to release music we believe in and constantly strive to upgrade everything we can about the party. Hopefully you’ll dig some of the new projects we work on as we try to figure out what exactly the next level is and take the party there.
If you follow us or come out regularly, I’m sure you’ve noticed that we praise and shout out our crowd constantly. We know that there are DJs trying to throw cool niche parties like The Solution all over the world that don’t pan out, often times because there’s not a musically inclined, open-minded crowd coming out to help get the party off the ground, and we know that we could very easily be in the same boat without your love and support, so on that note, let me thank you on behalf of the whole crew for an INCREDIBLE 8 years and cheers to many, many more Denver!!! – DJ Low Key
So anyway, let’s talk 2015 and all the great stuff we have lined up to celebrate our 8 year anniversary! On an all month long note, we’re excited to bring together an all-star lineup of Denver favorites for The Art Of Records IV:4 Decades Of Classics, the latest in our ongoing art show series based around reimaginations of classic album art and the vinyl records the sound and art are immortalized on. 2/6/15 is the show’s opening party and to make sure there’s ample time for everyone to take in the artwork before things get too crazy, we’re going to be starting the party early, at 7pm, for First Friday fun. Check out the fantastic lineup of artists we have contributing to the show:
Joseph Martinez
Karma Leigh
Meeg Conroy
Thomas Evans
Jaime Molina
Michael Coriano
Tristan Minton
Patrick Hansen
Delton Demarest
Filthe
El Marsito
Dunn The Signtologist
Rawh
Dread
TiredPirate
On top of the beautiful surroundings, we’ll be welcoming party co-founder Sounds Supreme out to join weekly residents DJ Low Key & Lazy Eyez on the turntables for what’s sure to be some inspired music. We’re excited to start getting Sounds Supreme back involved in the party with monthly guest spots, so stay tuned for more from him. We’ll also be celebrating the birthdays of our two favorite photographers, official Solution photographer Knower Of The Ledge aka Armando Geneyro and his #TheyShootn associate Blake Jackson. Both of these guys have taken a ton of great photos of the party & probably you if you’re a party regular, so make sure to wish them the best and grab them a birthday drink or two.
As if that wasn’t enough, Filthe is going to bless us with live ‘bring your own shirt’ screenprinting once again!!! Bring a tee, sweatshirt, hoodie, sweatpants, etc and he’ll customize it into fresh new Solution gear, on us!!! Don’t have a shirt to bring in? Don’t worry, we’ll have some available for sale too! Check out the picture above from last time around (when he helped us retire our previous logo) for a taste. We also had to bring in two longtime friends of the party to do some quick, mid-party performances of their party anthems. CRL CRRLL will be performing “Cheers”, party favorite and the first single from the upcoming Solution Tape #2 and Yonnas from BLKHRTS will be performing “Porties”, their super dope club anthem from last year. We’ll also have some nice new Solution buttons, hot off the press, as well as party photos by Knower Of The Ledge & ZenOne. Whew. That was a lot. Gonna be a classic night, don’t miss it!!! Things kick off at 7pm, no cover until 11pm & just $5 after. 2701 Larimer Street.
