FRIDAY, 12/20 -> Lazy Claus is back!!!  That’s right, everyone’s favorite chimney hopping Asian DJ returns to The Solution and this Friday is your chance to get a pic with him (no sitting on his lap though, he’s got a girl!) at the Meadowlark.  Him & DJ Low Key will be rocking turntables and giving out gifts throughout the night, as we celebrate the holiday season and a great year in 2013.  We’ll also be welcoming our friends Karma Leigh, Xencs L. Wing & Knower Of The Ledge back with their super fly assortment of jewelry, prints & other goods to make your holiday shopping experience easier, more fun and a little cooler (not to mention it’s a great way to support local entrepreneurs and keep money in the community, all while avoiding the madness of the mall while sipping a drink; what a win-win!!!).  Party photographer Knower Of The Ledge will be on-site doing double duty, taking your pic with Lazy Claus for our Instagram (@DenverSolution) & Facebook pages. Enclosed heated patio / $5 Red Bull & Svedka / 21+ / No cover until 11, only $5 after / 2701 Larimer St / More info on the party on Facebook/Twitter/Tumblr/Instagram.

Last but not least, in case you missed the release party for our second limited edition Art Of Records tee last Friday, with acclaimed Denver artist Gabe “Filthe” Parra and our favorite boutique in town, Family Affair; it’s not to late to pick one of the last few remaining Tribe Called Quest Midnight Marauders-inspired tees.  Last week we sold out of some sizes, but last time we checked, there were still a few medium, large & extra larges available.  We’ll have them at the party on Friday, but you can also order one online at FamilyAffairDenver.com.  There were only 25 initially available last week and once they sell out, they’re gone forever; so make sure to get yours today!!!

The Solution is on Instagram & we’re adding an official photographer to the team! Introducing Armando aka Knower Of The Ledge!!!

If you’ve been following the party for a decent amount of time, you know that we rarely add anyone to the team.  Over the years, the party’s roster has included resident DJs Low Key, Lazy Eyez & Sounds Supreme, official/infamous bartender Jessica and the young homies DJ Dozen & B-Money during The Solution Boulder’s short run (also, huge shouts to honorary members like the cats at Family Affair, Akomplice & Denver Frank).

On that note, we recently made a HUGE addition to the team that we’re excited to announce and his name is @KnowerOfTheLedge aka Armando aka the first official Solution photographer!  He’ll be documenting all of our fun times at the party, and he’s already off to a great start. Take a quick minute to head to his Instagram page to get familiar with his work and see why he’s one of our favorite photographers in Denver, then head over to our Instagram page at @DenverSolution to see what we’ve been up (make sure to follow both, obviously)!  Also, make sure you check out even more great party pics from Armando in the galleries on our Facebook page!!!

Friday, 11/15 -> Special guest DJ Trackstar (ATL / Run The Jewels & Killer Mike’s DJ) at The Solution w/DJ Low Key & Lazy Eyez at the Meadowlark…

FRIDAY, 11/15 -> We’re excited to welcome our good friend and touring DJ extraordinaire Trackstar The DJ.  He’s Killer Mike & El-P aka Run The Jewels’s official DJ, a member of The Smoking Section crew and an infamous mixtape technician, he’ll be joining Solution residents DJ Low Key & Lazy Eyez on the turntables for what promises to be a great night.  Solution photographer Knower Of The Ledge will be taking party photos, things kick off at 9pm and there’s no cover til 11 (only $5 after).  2701 Larimer St / 21+.

Friday, 11/8 at 7pm -> The Art Of Records III: Enter The Marauders at The Solution w/DJ Low Key & Lazy Eyez! 20 years to the week since Midnight Marauders & Enter The Wu-Tang dropped, we celebrate two of hip hop’s best albums & their legendary artwork at the Meadowlark!!!

FRIDAY, 11/8 at 7pm -> The Art Of Records is like Christmas to us.  We invite a dozen or so of our favorite Denver artists to take classic hip hop album & 12″ single record covers and re-imagine them in their own style and when we finally get to see all their work, it’s like walking down the stairs on Christmas morning to see all sorts of presents under the tree.  The first two shows, co-curated by Dunn the Signtologist & DJ Low Key, blew us away with artists flipping everything from Dilla to Public Enemy to Quasimoto albums into a variety of masterpieces (check the links below for thorough recaps).

For our third Art Of Records, we’re celebrating a landmark occasion; the 20th anniversary of two of hip hop’s all-time best albums, A Tribe Called Quest’s Midnight Marauders & Wu-Tang Clan’s Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), which both, through the magic of the 90s Golden Era in NY, were released on the same Tuesday, 11/9/1993.  We’re not just having the artists flip the album covers alone though, both albums features impressive artwork on the 12″ singles for the likes of “Electric Relaxation”, “Protect Ya Neck” & such that are ripe inspiration for the show at the Meadowlark.

We’re starting things early at 7pm to showcase the art in full light, then at 10pm, we’re going into afterparty mode at The Solution w/DJ Low Key & Lazy Eyez to close out the night.  We’ll also have Solution photographer extraordinaire Knower Of The Ledge in the house, so make sure to pose for him and keep an eye out for pictures on the new Solution Instagram page & on our Facebook page.  Last but not least, it’s also our homegirl Adrian’s birthday party, so if you see the brunette in this pic rocking to a Prince or Vanity 6 song like she’s straight from the video later in the evening, wish her a happy birthday & buy her a drink!  21+/No cover until 11/Only $5 after/2701 Larimer St.

More about The Art Of Records: Over the last few decades album art has gone from a 12” canvases to a 2” screens, and that’s usually the best-case scenario for the often incredible art that accompanies music releases.  Landmark albums like Eric B & Rakim’s Paid In Full, Nas’s Illmatic and De La Soul is Dead have instantly recognizable covers that are embedded in music and art lovers’ psyches forever, but the 12” as a canvas has become a rarity in the public eye.  Everyone from music and art lovers to average people on the street still connect to both the album art and 12” format, yet we rarely take the time to honor the truly great ones.  The Art Of Records is an exhibit that aims to do just that; focusing on the legacy of exceptional art accompanying exceptional music and the idea of introducing both to a new generation.

The Art Of Records combines art, music and tradition to celebrate and honor the rich history and mystique of record cover art, 12″ vinyl and the artists that create it (both musically and graphically). Curated by DJ Low Key & Dunn the Signtologist, the exhibit features a series of classic 12″ album and single covers re-imagined and recreated by top artists in Denver.  The 12” covers will also be on display and the concept comes full circle with DJ Low Key playing an all vinyl set of the featured records to get the night started.

Friday, 10/25 -> The Solution’s Halloween Get Down + Diehorrorama Afterparty w/piñatas, free candy, a costume contest for Kanye/Kendrick tickets, party photos by Knower Of The Ledge, Kid Hum’s Bon Voyage, food by The Cluck Truck & more at the Meadowlark…

FRIDAY, 10/25 -> This year Halloween falls on a weekday, so we’re kicking off the celebrations almost a week early at The Solution w/DJ Low Key & Lazy Eyez with all sorts of fun stuff.  If you’ve got a good costume, make sure you rock it, we’re giving away a pair of tickets to the Kanye West/Kendrick Lamar show to the best one.  Everybody’s a winner though, we’ll have free candy and a couple of piñatas to smash (that’s last year’s Frankenstein piñata on the flyer), not to mention award-winning music and your favorite Halloween oriented jams!

As if that wasn’t enough, we’ve super excited to announce that Knower Of The Ledge (IG: @KnowerOfTheLedge) will be joining The Solution (take a quick minute to check our new instagram page at @DenverSolution) as the party’s official photographer.  He’ll be with us every Friday from now on, taking pictures of the party and documenting all our great times at the Meadowlark (2701 Larimer St)!!!  9pm / No cover til 11pm / Only $5 after / 21+.

UPDATE:

Things got a whole lot crazier over the weekend.  We’re excited to be doubling the fun for Friday from our initial plans, here’s the 3 reasons why:

1: We’re teaming up with the one and only Opt Won & Chubby Robot to make The Solution the official afterparty for the highly  anticipated Diehorrorama art show, a horror film themed diorama art show at Eslinger Gallery (118 South Broadway) from 6-9pm that you won’t want to miss.  It’s features 20 or so of Denver’s best artists, treats by The Shoppe, our homies DJ Tense & DJ Unison on the turntables and more fun.  It’s a perfect way to get your night going before The Solution!

2: Longtime friend of the party and producer/DJ extraordinaire Kid Hum (Welcome To The D.O.P.E. Game) is about to head out of town for a long trip to Tokyo & other parts of Asia, so come out and wish the homie off on a good trip.

3: We’re looking forward to welcoming The Cluck Truck back for another culinary guest spot.  They’re easily one of the tastiest food trucks in town and we can’t wait have them back for another round of delicious fried chicken, homemade pickles & lots more.
