FRIDAY, 4/3 -> My homie Zimmie from Pittsburgh (a fellow Red Bull Music Academy Mr. X…huh, what?) is putting together a dope art show called “Special Edition” where all sorts of artists from here in Denver customized blank 12″ record/album covers & they’re all gonna be displayed for First Friday. The art show starts at 8 at Th’Ink Tank (172 S. Broadway), so hit it up early for some great art, free PBRs, Red Bulls & cupcakes from the Shoppe and then head over to the Solution, my weekly party with Sounds Supreme & Westword’s pick for Best Hip Hop Night in Denver in ’08 (this year our category was gone…WTF) for the afterparty. It’s one of those rare nights when Sounds Supreme is out of town & it’s looking like we might having a guest DJ come rock with me. Afterparty located at the Solution on the Funky Buddha’s roof (776 Lincoln St). 21+ / No cover / Music at 9. Just to reiterate, go to the art show at Th’Ink Tank (I will NOT be DJing there) & then head over to the Funky Buddha for the afterparty (I will be DJing there), cool?
SATURDAY, 4/4 -> Funk, Soul, Breaks and the Hip Hop songs that sampled them – Ya Dig? With me, DMC finalist Cysko Rokwel & 3 The Hardway’s ridiculous producer/birthday boy Es Nine on the 1s & 2s at Tooey’s (1521 Marion St, Colfax & Marion). Shouts to Mane Rok & the Life Crew for making it happen. And by the way, I have some JAMS to play. It’s rare I get to spin breaks so I gotta pull out some crazy records from the crates, trust. 21+ / No cover.

Word is we’re gonna be rockin some new joints from Brooklynati at the Tanya Morgan shows (including the single, “So Damn Down“, you better download that iddish & learn the words quick…lol) & each set’s gonna debut different songs from one of the best records of ‘09 (just wait, you’ll see), so I recommend you try to catch both. As far as the Red Bull Moon Tower goes, it’s gonna be INSANE and that pretty much goes without saying. I googled it the other other day and this is the first paragraph of the first result:
We arrived at the undisclosed location of the Red Bull Moon Tower around 2am for our tattooing and entry into what’s probably the most exclusive invite only event at SXSW 2008. Red Bull does things right which is one of the reasons why we love them – no company throws a party like Red Bull throws a party and the Moon Tower is yet another example of how to do things the right way. Wide open space, big stage, huge visuals, lotsa drinks and great music.

It’s only been a month & a half since I DJed at the Akomplice/All Us Mag Winter X-Games Party in Aspen but so much has happened since then it seems like forever ago…Anyways, I’ve been meaning to post up a couple of pics (and a link to more over at Akomplice-Clothing.com) from the party for a minute & here they are…It was fun ass night with AK crew (as usual) complete with a bunch of cute girls rockin Akomplice gear, serving sushi, over $5,000 of product given away by over 40 Colorado Companies & a lot of other randomness…Also, check out the pics of the custom skateboard deck for the party if haven’t already & stay tuned for more DJ Low Key/Akomplice events real soon…
P.S. Once again, I gotta say, Serato is amazing but it’s made like half the pics of DJs spinning look a lot less cool than in the days of all wax…LOL…That pic would have been me diggin through crates a few years back…The pros & cons of the MP3 age…

You might already know LA’s TiRon from his excellent rapper tape, Handshakes & Pounds, from a year or so back, his work with Pac Div (“Paper”, “She” & more), his track with Blu (“All The Kings Men”) or his mention as part of the “Class of 2009” on BET.com. If not, get your google on, check TiRon’s myspace page & mark the 24th on your calendar so you can catch up.
FRIDAY, 2/6 -> It’s hard to believe that over a hundred Fridays have gone by since me & the infamous Sounds Supreme branched out from the “regular” club scene to start the kind of party we’d wanna go to back in February 2007. We named the party the Solution and since then, every week’s been a beautiful mix of the best hip hop, exceptional people & great drinks (mainly courtesy of our longtime bartender Jessica, the “third member of the Solution”). Well with our two year birthday coming on 2/6, we’re going all out to celebrate with a Solution cake courtesy of the Shoppe, art from Dunn the Street Sign Artist & more, photographers from the Westword, Red Bull Wings girls, mad drink specials & some crazy gift bags (details below).
It’s been a busy two years. We’ve played host to a variety of out of town guests from Blu to Median to Tanya Morgan to the Kidz in the Hall to Che Grand to Mickey Factz & more. We had some of CO’s best DJs, from Vajra to Chonz to Psycho to Bedz to Amen, spin guest sets & wanna plan their next guest spot before the night ends. We’ve thrown a J Dilla tribute for Ma Dukes with Stones Throw, a couple of chicken & waffles parties to honor the west coast, showings from some of Denver’s best artists, fashion shows with Akomplice & that’s just a few of the fun things that you might have missed if you haven’t been coming out every week. There’s quite a few reasons Common called us “the real hip hop in Denver” and we were named “Best Hip Hop Night” in the Westword’s 2008 “Best of Denver” issue (don’t forget to vote for us in ’09).
But really though, the Solution’s not about us, it’s about you, the people who come out every week and support. Everyone from heads who come by after working a ten hour day to fly ass girls who know the words Camp Lo songs to “nerds” who saw us mentioned on blogs to off duty go go dancers to some of the best DJs in town (y’all got us running around calling the Solution “your favorite DJs favorite party”, excuse our cockiness). With that said, we’ve collected a ton of giveaways from most of the companies we’ve worked with over the last few years. Akomplice, Frank151, Family Affair, Speakeasy, Avenue, Estate LA, Lard, Counter Act Ltd, Stones Throw, Mad Decent, IM Culture (home of Tanya Morgan) & even the homie Nicolay laced us and we’ve made gift bags for y’all to show our gratitude.
