Alive & Fixing (c) Che Grand…Fixtape Two coming soon!!! Here’s a preview…

From ZFTPLabel.com: a little off schedule but as promised, here are 2 Fixtape Two joints!

.:Che Grand featuring Spec Boogie “Standin Too Close”:.

.:Che Grand “The Mood (Jungle Music)”:.

.:Bonus: “Lawwd Listen” on 2Dopeboyz.com & “Man Myth Legend” on the ZFTP Tumblr:.

In Che’s words: I’m hoping I don’t alienate my current listeners with this mixtape, I told Von Pea I’m ready to lose a few fans lol. I’ve just been having fun lately recording and engineering for myself and others, learning how to use Pro Tools. With that said expect the rest of this random collection of music new (old to some) and newer soon….

My 2 cents: Che MURDERS a variety of styles on here, everything from dub to prog rock to boom bap. No matter how familiar you are with Che Grand’s music, you’re gonna be impressed.  In the meantime, definitely check out the original Fixtape if you haven’t already.

Thursday, 8/12 -> Lounging at the Lobby, adult game night & networking event, w/DJ Low Key & more…

THURSDAY, 8/12 -> I’ve been DJing at nightclubs for a living for almost a decade now and these days I get excited for events that are a little different than the standard night club fare (take Hapa Life for instance).  Well not too long ago, the folks over at Bigg Dizzy hit me up about getting involved in their recently launched adult game night/networking events; we met, knocked out some specifics and I’m looking forward to being involved in my first one on 8/12. Just to clarify, we’re talking about adults drinking and playing games here, not adult game night on some adult movie night ish, LOL.

Anyways, there will be numerous games on hand, everything from poker to taboo to connect four to dominos to wii on a projecter and more.  Plus, we’ve got a dope collection of prizes too, including Rockies tickets, a bar tab at the Lobby, gift certificates to a few local restaurants, a couple of Akomplice tees and more.   Also, we’ve got some complimentary snacks and a late night happy hour going with specials on food and drink, courtesy of the Lobby (P.S. I just checked the spot out for the first time recently and it’s super fresh).  Last but not least, in case it’s not clear, I’ll be playing all the dope shit throughout the night to compliment your game playing experience, don’t miss it.  9:30 – midnight / $5 / Downtown at 22nd & Arapahoe.

Sunday, 7/18 -> The Spirit of Hip Hop Park Jam at La Raza Park during the day & Hapa Life at night…

SUNDAY, 7/18 -> Summertime’s not official without a park jam or two, right?  Catch me and some of Denver’s top talent (including Vajra, Lazy Eyez, Cysko Rokwel, B Money, Dent, Johnny 5 from the Flo-Bots & more) rocking from 11am – 6pm at La Raza Park (38th & Navajo) for the Spirit of Hip Hop Park Jam.  Expect dope music all day long and some of the top b-boys in town getting down.  The event is all ages, free and there’s gonna be free food, what’s better than that?  Shouts to Spenser & Hip Hop Congress for putting the jam together.  Then afterwards, don’t miss me spinning the best in R&B and soul music at Hapa Life from 8:30 – 11pm (2nd & Detroit in Cherry Creek).

I didn’t forget about y’all…

It’s been an insanely busy last few weeks, but I didn’t forget about the site…Expect a ton of updates and new content coming soon…In the meantime, you can keep up with me on twitter…Stay tuned and thanks for listening…

Thursday, 6/24 -> Red Bull Big Tune Denver w/special guests Just Blaze & Battlecat at the Church…RSVP for free entry at RedBullBigTune.com…

THURSDAY, 6/24 -> The country’s premier producer battle hits Denver again and a dozen of region’s top producers are primed to battle head to head to see who has the biggest tune aka the best beats.  In case you missed last year’s Big Tune at Beta, MPC master Boonie Mayfield aka Boon Doc took the title, beating out some of Colorado’s top talent, including runner up DJ Psycho, up and coming prodigy Xperiment, world renowned turntablist turned beatmaker DJ Vajra, Yonas from Denver favorites the Pirate Signal and seven others to go to the national finals. Since then, virtually every producer I know has been getting their best beats together to vie for this year’s Denver Big Tune title, a chance to compete in the national finals in Chicago and a shot at the grand prize, a chance to record with the artist of their choice at Red Bull Studios in Santa Monica (previous winners have recorded with Young Buck, Nas & Ghostface).

As if that wasn’t enough, production legends Battlecat & Just Blaze will also be making their first appearances in Colorado, showcasing at the battle.  Battlecat’s production credits include west coast icons Snoop Dogg, Dogg Pound & Xzibit, to name a few.  Just Blaze’s resume is filled with icons too, including frequent collaborator Jay-Z, Eminem, T.I. & more.  Don’t miss both of them, the Big Tune crew (J Moore, Vitamin D, Jake One & DV One) and what promises to be a RIDICULOUS producer battle, all at the Church (1160 Lincoln St) on 6/24.  18+ / Doors at 8 / For free entry, RSVP at RedBullBigTune.com.

The Solution is going on summer break!!! The best club night in Denver (c) Westword will be back on 6/25 in a new location, join our e-mail list at DenverSolution.com for more details…

After over three years, the Solution and CO Clubs (Bar Standard, Funky Buddha, etc) have parted ways.  We had a blast in our time working with CO Clubs but over the last few months it became apparent that it was time for us to split.  With that said, the Solution w/DJ Low Key & Sounds Supreme is far from over.  We’re gonna take the next two weeks off and return on Friday, 6/25 for the fourth annual DJ Low Key/Charley Cox/Lessondary birthday extravaganza (please leave your e-mail address at DenverSolution.com for updates on the party & location).  We apologize for the short notice, but trust, the stuff we have planned for the rest of the summer will make up for any inconvenience.

Say it ain’t so Kam…Kam Moye aka Supastition is done? I hope not…

Me and the homie DJ Forge have been talking about him and criminally underrated rapper Kam Moye coming out to rock at the Solution for while now (Forge is Kam’s tour DJ).  The other day, I mentioned the idea to Forge on AIM and he said that might be hard to make happen and sent me a link to this sad post from Supastition.com, check it out…

For those who have been asking for updates on myself and my album. Kam Moye is longer an artist on MYX Music Label. As of a few months ago, MYX Music is no longer in business from my understanding. At this point my album is kind of lost in the shuffle and I am hoping to get things resolved as far as rights to the music go. The mother company ABS-CBN took some serious losses in the past year so they cut off finances for it’s smaller subsidiaries including the label. It was beyond my control and nothing could have prevented it. More than a few artists lost their deals. I’ve dealt with a similar situation before when Chain Letters in 2005 was released and two or three months later the distribution company shut down without warning. That’s just the way the ball bounces. Hopefully things will work out for all parties. I wish Karim Panni (label manager of MYX) all the best in his new endeavors. There will be no more singles or videos off of the album. Thanks to those who supported the album. I am grateful for the opportunity regardless.

At this time, I have no plans on recording another professional solo album as Kam Moye or Supastition. This decision isn’t based on my recent situation with MYX Music but based on the state of the music industry and where it’s going. It wasn’t an easy decision for me but I felt that it was the best choice. I’ve sacrificed a lot of money and time and it’s just not worth it to continue with it the way I have done in the past. All isn’t bad news though… I have enough unreleased songs saved in the stash at this point to compile a few more albums. With that being said, I’m going to put those songs together and make them available for free download as soon as I can get clearance from the producers and guest artists involved. There is no release date and there won’t be one. There will be no labels or promo involved. Whenever I can get the okay from everyone involved then I’ll put up a link on my site, Facebook, etc… It’s as simple as that. Not to mention, I have recorded close to 100 guest appearances in my career so I’m sure they will continue popping up on the internet throughout the years.  There are some other MC/producer projects that I already had in the works with Dela (from France), D.R. (Electric Ave), and Madwreck.  I’m a man of my word so I will make sure that those projects are finished and completed. I’ve been left hanging way too many times by people that I’ve worked with in the music industry so I’d never do that to people I respect. I mainly chose to do projects with them based on their talent, loyalty, and just being good people and friends in general. The collaboration project with Dela may be released on CD/iTunes depending on what he decides to do with it but the other two projects will be free releases. Also, I just provided DJ Concept (Bash Brothers) with over 70 songs to release in a Kam Moye/Supastition mixtape series in order to help distribute the remaining songs in my catalog.

Although I’ll always write and record music, I have no interest in to pursuing it professionally anymore as an artist. 5 record deals, 3 albums, 3 EP’s, 5 videos, 12 countries, and 40+ U.S. cities is more than enough for me to be proud of.  I know some people will wonder why can’t I still just make music? The truth is that I have never “just made music” because most of my career I have managed myself (until recently), booked my most of my own shows & tours, found my own record deals, found my own producers, and most recently recorded my own music. That takes a toll on you and your personal life after awhile. Out of all those duties, I spent the least amount of time rapping and recording music. With music being technically free nowadays, that’s way too much effort for the results I’ve seen. Waking up to see a blog giving away your entire discography for free followed by a single sentence saying “support the artist” is a very humbling thing to see when your rent is due. That’s not bitterness, it’s just today’s reality…  I’m at peace with that. I’m going to make sure that the rest of the music in my catalog will reach those fans who have supported me over the years. This isn’t some corny retirement speech or “I quit” rant… just me personally giving you an update on what to expect and what not to expect from me. I’m sure people will interpret it any way that they like though. I had originally written a lengthy and personal message breaking down a lot of things but I realized that nothing on the internet is personal anymore. Thanks all of those who have supported and all of you who will continue. I’ll update you on things as soon as I can. Hopefully you will enjoy the rest of the music and if not then you have more than enough music from me already. Peace and respect y’all.  -Kam Moye

With that said, me & Forge have been talking about him and Kam rockin at the Solution for a while now and we’re still gonna try to make it happen sometime this Summer.  In the meantime, I’d recommend copping whatever Kam Moye/Supastition music you can and show your gratitude to one of the most slept on rappers of the last decade.
