DJ Low Key caught in the act on StrictlyFitteds.com & the infamous B Club hats…
So I got caught in the act on StrictlyFitteds.com Sunday night. Head over to StrictlyFitteds.com, the undisputed authority on fitteds, to see the feature and catch up on the hat game. Big up to the homey Nai over at Strictly on the good look, Avenue/Speakeasy on the hat & Rachel on the pic. And yeah, I take the sticker off and rock my bill with a slight crease, a little to the right, in case you were wondering. Last but not least, since we’re talkin hats, I gotta shout out the homeys over at Frank151, Estate LA & my Cali fam Free Speech and Ro Blvd for lacing me with extra fresh fitteds (check out the ultra exclusive, extra dope B Club fitted below, only the crew listed at OurTeamIsFresh.com has ’em) as well.
And by the way, Atlanta Braves fitteds are my shit too on some super CLASSIC iddish (I’m originally from right outside of ATL, put me in front of some fried catfish, hush puppies & sweet tea and I’ll do damage), but that’s a whole different post.
Coolest chair ever!!! Damn Mikal…

In case you missed it, Verve Remixed Volume 4 dropped almost two weeks ago to rave reviews. The project is full of dope remixes (from the likes of 9th Wonder, Truth & Soul, Diplo & more) of quality songs (everyone Billie Holiday to Roy Ayers to James Brown & more). With that said, I wanna put y’all on to the ridiculously cool chair on the cover designed by my boy Mikal Hameed. This chair is fresh as can be, I’m surprised it hasn’t been mentioned on Yeezy’s blog (there’s literally 2 chairs, a sofa, coffee table & bench on the main page right now…lol). Anyways, check out the behind the scenes video below to see Mikal take some lucky, busted ass chair from the side of the street and rebuild it on some bionic man iddish on the way to becoming an album cover. And make sure you go cop Verve Remixed Volume 4.

Happy B Day to the homey Donwill….He’s got a present for y’all though…
So today is Donwill’s birthday and being the nice guy that he is, he decided to give everyone else a present to celebrate. Suburban Sprawl is an album that him and a super talented producer by the name of SuhBURB have been workin on over the last couple of years and today they posted it up for the world. If you checked out my Mixing In Action #2 tape or Beat Thieves 2 with Ilwil then you got a chance to hear “rough” versions of a few of the songs from the album early. Anyways, this album is Don & BURB’s fully realized concept and while the sound is a little more out there than the rough versions and Don’s Ilwil/Tanya Morgan output (maybe you can tell by the cover), trust that SuhBURB is CRUSHIN beats on some evil genius iddish and Donwill is a supa MC (c) De La. Last but not least, make sure to cop Tanya Morgan’s new EP, the Bridge, it’s RIDICULOUS.

“It’s worth more than any label or what they pay/I’m here to save hip hop ’cause it’s dying away”
Right after it was first announced that Ghostface & MF Doom were linkin up, the internet went nuts for a snippet of an AMAZING song called “Charlie Brown” on the Fishscale sampler. Between a dope Doom beat, top notch insanity on the verses from Tony Starks & an awesome hook (“hey hey/what you say/this is real hip hop on the line today/it’s worth more than any label or what they pay/I’m here to save hip hop ’cause it’s dying away), the whole track banged. Fast forward a few years and the original “Charlie Brown” never ended up getting an official release, then a couple months back it popped up as a collection of remixes courtesy of Scion. I stumbled onto the remixes right around SXSW and had been playing them out some, then the homey Berk (who was involved in the the project) sent me an e-mail asking me to pass along the remixes to y’all the other day. So with no further delay->

Erykah Badu thanks the Radio Bums on the 12″ for “The Healer”
In case you didn’t already know, I’m a member of a super dope DJ crew called the Radio Bums (big up Chonz, Bedz, Petey, Styles & Fashion, Psycho, Vajra, Rectangle, Maseo, Amen, my partner at the Solution, Sounds Supreme, and that’s just part of the crew) that spans from Colorado to LA and beyond. I mention the crew because a talented up & coming (lol) singer by the name of Erykah Badu was thoughtful enough to recently thank us (alongside some of hip hop’s finest DJs & crews) on the back of her BEAUTIFUL (they rarely make records that are this nice these days with the sick ass art, colored vinyl, b-side, dope remixes and so on) double 12″ single for “The Healer” from her latest album, New Amerykah. Thanks Miss Badu, you sure do know the way to a DJ’s heart.
And oh yeah, make sure to cop that New Amerykah album if you haven’t already.

Please vote DJ Low Key for Best Hip Hop DJ in the Westword Music Showcase…
Hot on the heels of the Solution w/me & Sounds Supreme being named “Best Hip Hop Night” in Denver by the Westword, I’ve been nominated for the 2008 Westword Music Showcase for “Best Hip Hop DJ” alongside the homeys DJ Bedz (Radio Bums in this), (the world famous) DJ Vajra, Cysko Rockwel (big up Crunk Brothers) & more. All the dudes I just mentioned are AMAZING DJs who inspire me and countless other DJs around the state/country/world and are super deserving of the award. With that said, since you are reading this on my site/blog, you might be a fan of what I do and in that case, you & your friends/family/co-workers/entire myspace network/etc are more than welcomed to vote for your boy DJ Low Key over at Westword.com. Thanks…
