Like hats? Check out this interview with my boy Nai from StrictlyFitteds.com..

I met Nai the first time I visited NYC in 2004. He was workin on a music video with my good friends France & Exile Ramirez (the R&B artist they were shooting it for will remain nameless) and we became instant friends after he heard me playing some then unreleased Foreign Exchange songs on the set and bugged out.  Since then, he got out of the video business and created StrictlyFitteds.com, easily the definitive site for everything hat related.  Check him out as he tells the story and shows off his insane hat collection in this dope NHTVSN interview.

Friday, 11/7 from 7-10 -> Reflections Opening w/art from Dunn the Street Sign Artist, photography by Rachel Crick & music by DJ Low Key

FRIDAY, 11/8 from 7-10pm -> Straight from the press release…Culture Mob Presents REFLECTIONS: Two Great Tastes That Taste Great Together. The underground graffiti culture has reached a new elegance in Denver. The Street Sign Artist; Dunn, also known as the Signtologist (as coined by the famous MC Black Thought, from the legendary hip hop group, The Roots) is an artist best known for his unique style of painting portraits on recycled street signs. Inspired by artists such as Justin Bua, Dunn also has a background in graphic design and animation. His works grace the walls of artists both nationally and internationally including: Dave Chappelle, Kanye West, John Legend, Blackalicious and more. Rachel Crick is a social documentary photographer. Based in Denver, she has traveled to Seattle, New York, and Los Angeles photographing subjects as diverse as bi-racial families, a man’s journey to priesthood, Hip Hop artists and beyond. She has photographed a diverse array of musicians including Nas, Method Man, Rage Against the Machine, John Legend, De La Soul, Atmosphere, Les Nubians and more. The two artists have come together to produce an event that combines the beauty of both their art forms. Dunn has created a portrayal of Crick’s work on street signs, reflecting the uniqueness and individuality of both of their work. The result is Reflections: Two Great Tastes That Taste Great Together. Opening Night is November 7th at the Robusto Room and will feature Denver’s finest DJ – DJ Low Key spinning Hip Hop and R&B.  No cover / The Robusto Room (9535 Park Meadows Dr).

.:DJ Low Key – Basementalism Pledge Mix – 10/04/08:.

Here’s a mix I recorded for renowned college radio show Basementalism’s pledge drive a few weeks back.  It’s a 2-part, 32 track mix of big indie, college radio & classic hip hop records straight from my crates to you (yes, from my crates, no offense to my serato, but this mix is 100% wax). P.S. Please excuse the short instrumental breaks (they’re for the show’s talkin parts) and if you like what you hear, please do you part and help support Radio 1190 up in Boulder, they’re a fresh alternative to the generic top 40 stations that we’re all tired of.  Anyways, enjoy…

The Further Adventures of Von Pea teaser & Che Grand – Breakfast at Wimbledon…

I’m spoiled, I’ll admit it.  I’ve been rockin the roughs of Von Pea’s new mixtape rapper tape project, The Further Adventures of Von Pea, nonstop since he sent it over and it’s INSANE.  I’m not gonna act like I’m not biased, but it’s always dope to hear a top notch MC spit on Madlib’s beats (plus I could never get too into the whole Quasimoto voice) and Von is SPITTIN (c) Aeon.  And make sure you check out the cover, it’s a strong contender for album art of the year.  Here’s the teaser, check it out and make sure you download the project over at VonPea.com on 11/11.

.:Von Pea – The Further Adventures of Von Pea Teaser:.

P.S. Don’t worry, this is still on it’s way.  Top of ’08 y’all.

And while we’re talkin Lessondary, make sure you check out Che Grand’s new project, Breakfast at Wimbledon (ZFTP Volume 7), over at his blog, ZFTP. It’s no Fixtape, but it’s still better than 99% of what’s out.
