SATURDAY, 7/13 at 10am -> Join us at the Holly Square Peace Courts for Denver’s first Red Bull King Of The Rock qualifier. The winner gets $1000.00 and an all-expense trip to Alcatraz to compete in the world finals, where they’ll battle it out to win the title of “King of the Rock” and $20,000.
There are 64 spots available for the Denver qualifier. Registration is first come, first serve.
-Players must be 16 years old and up.
-Be there early to make sure you get a spot.
-Registration starts at 10AM and goes till 10:55AM.
-First game starts at 11AM.
-There is no fee to register.
Tournament games last five minutes and are subject to regulation hoops rules and scoring (two and three pointers).
This qualifier is open to amateur and pros alike, however players must be 16 years of age or older to participate. For 29 long years, more than 1,500 men dreamed of nothing but getting off of Alcatraz. But this year, hundreds will try to make it onto the island, with the goal of being King of the Rock. First held in 2010, Red Bull King of the Rock is the only official sporting event ever held on Alcatraz and the first time basketball has been played on the hard concrete of The Rock since the inmates left the island more than 50 years ago. The tournament has grown from 6 qualifiers on the west coast in 2010 to qualifiers around the globe in 2013. Sixty-four contestants will emerge from the qualifiers and make their way to Alcatraz for the final showdown on September 28th, 2013.
