A little more talk about Ketchup…Shouts to the homie TiRon…

So it’s been two weeks since my latest mixtape, Ketchup, a collab with ridiculously talented but still never happy L.A.-based rapper TiRon dropped & the response has been overwhelmingly positive…It’s already been downloaded over 6,000 times from just the main zshare link & here, plus it’s been re-upped by countless other blogs across the web…I figured I’d put together some of the feedback from some of the bigger sites/blogs for whoever’s still sleeping & production credits for whoever’s interested (take note of the lineup, there’s some super talented new producers & MCs featured on the tape…

“One of the best up and coming artists on the West Coast planet. Yea I said it. TiRon is stupid dope and you’re a fool if you’ve been sleeping. This tape is a perfect way to catch up Ketchup (see what he did right there?) though.” – 2DopeBoyz

“TiRon isn’t your average rapper, he’s something more…For all you tomato head ass muthaf*ckas that ain’t up on one of the West Coast’s brightest new stars, ketchup!” – XXL

“For my personal listening, I’d have to say [TiRon’s] on my ‘man more people need to hear these cats’ lists. Thankfully, we now have Ketchup.” – The Smoking Section

“Without bias, I can say this dude is definitely somebody you should get to know if you’re not familiar with his music already” – Okayplayer

Pics from the Akomplice & All Us Mag Winter X-Games Party…

It’s only been a month & a half since I DJed at the Akomplice/All Us Mag Winter X-Games Party in Aspen but so much has happened since then it seems like forever ago…Anyways, I’ve been meaning to post up a couple of pics (and a link to more over at Akomplice-Clothing.com) from the party for a minute & here they are…It was fun ass night with AK crew (as usual) complete with a bunch of cute girls rockin Akomplice gear, serving sushi, over $5,000 of product given away by over 40 Colorado Companies & a lot of other randomness…Also, check out the pics of the custom skateboard deck for the party if haven’t already & stay tuned for more DJ Low Key/Akomplice events real soon…

P.S. Once again, I gotta say, Serato is amazing but it’s made like half the pics of DJs spinning look a lot less cool than in the days of all wax…LOL…That pic would have been me diggin through crates a few years back…The pros & cons of the MP3 age…

Friday, 2/27 -> Third Annual J Dilla Tribute at the Solution w/DJ Low Key & Sounds Supreme

FRIDAY, 2/27 -> It’s that magical time of year again…Dilla month.  Heads all over the world have been celebrating the life & music of James Yancey throughout February and before comes to a close, me & Sounds Supreme gotta bring you our third annual J Dilla tribute at the Solution (and, unfortunately, I think the only Dilla tribute going on in CO).  It’s not much of a sell, either you’re into Dilla and this night is something that’s gonna be awesome for you or you’re not up on the musical genius of Jay Dee and I gotta admit, I’m kinda confused as to why you’re on my site and interested in the Solution in the first place (no offense…I’m just saying).  Anyways, from 10 til last call we’ll be playing only Dilla joints, everything from his classics with Tribe, De La, SV, Common, Badu, Madlib, Busta, D’Angelo, etc to the random joints like the Fourtet remix, the joints with Spacek, T Da Pimp’s ish and so on.  Plus, we’re premiering the new Sound College J Dilla/Detroit tribute tee (check a small sample of it on the flyer) & there’s gonna be free donuts (it’s tradition…lol).  It doesn’t get much better than that, right?  Funky Buddha (776 Lincoln) / No cover / 21+.

TiRon & DJ Low Key – Ketchup drops on 2/24…

&

DROPPING TUESDAY, 2/24 -> In the words of Shake from 2dopeboyz.com “I’m not a huge fan of posting snippets, but I’ve had the full version of this for too long not to let something from it go. The track is just like 95% of anything else TiRon has released… dope as hell. I honestly don’t understand why there isn’t a larger buzz surrounding the kid. Dah well… it will come soon enough. Ketchup drops next Tuesday (February 24th) right here at the dopehouse; mixed by DJ Low Key. Video is on the way as well.”

.:TiRon featuring Ayomari “3 Drink Minimum (snippet)”:.

You might already know LA’s TiRon from his excellent rapper tape, Handshakes & Pounds, from a year or so back, his work with Pac Div (“Paper”, “She” & more), his track with Blu (“All The Kings Men”) or his mention as part of the “Class of 2009” on BET.com.  If not, get your google on, check TiRon’s myspace page & mark the 24th on your calendar so you can catch up.
