This Akomplice Winter X-Games deck is fresh…

Maybe I’m just too easily impressed, but seeing this custom Akomplice x All Us Winter X-Games skateboard deck with my name on it at last Thursday’s party was really cool (and I know I’m not the only one that thought so…lol). With more than 50 sponsors contributing a wide variety of iddish for giveaways (the gift bags were INSANE) and all the chaos of a packed party I didn’t catch which one of the numerous companies involved made the deck, but it was the craziest of a bunch of dope giveaways. Anyways, I imagine there’ll be more details on the Akomplice site when they post up pictures/video from party sometime soon, stay tuned for a link.

Thursday, 1/22 -> Akomplice Winter X-Games Local Launch Party w/DJ Low Key, Deeogee & Big O Tone at Club Chelsea in Aspen

THURSDAY, 1/22 -> Yep, it’s that time of year again. Winter X-Games fever has hit Colorado and anyone who doesn’t hate the winter is excited for them to start on Thursday.  Akomplice & All Us Shred Magazine are gettin things off to a dope start at one of Aspen’s best spots, Club Chelsea, with the Local Launch featuring music by me and two of Aspen’s finest, Deeogee & Big O Tone. It’s the only party at the Winter X-Games thrown by companies from here in Colorado, there’s gonna be giveaways from everybody with a logo on the flyer above & since it’s one of the only big parties open to the public on Thursday, you better come out early (last time I DJed at the X-Games the party hit capacity within fifteen minutes of opening the door and it was one in, one out for the rest of the night, PLEASE make sure you come early). 21+ / 415 E Hyman Ave in Aspen.

Tuesday, 1/20 -> Inauguration Party w/DJ Low Key, DJ Squirt & Boo Bear at Bar Luxe

TUESDAY, 1/20 -> Come join me, DJ Squirt & Boo Bear on inauguration night at Cherry Creek’s Bar Luxe as we get the next 4 years off to a great start.  The vibe at the spot is cool, we’ve got a bunch of specials (on everything from champagne to beer to martinis) & of course, dope music with an extra motivational/political feel (I’ve got some great stuff to play, trust). Come put the perfect wrap on a great day in American history with us. Downstairs at 231 Milwaukee St (2 blocks north of the Cherry Creek Mall) / 21+ / No Cover / Music at 9.

* PS The image above is a piece done by Chris Cox aka Change The Thought, one of my favorite artists in Denver.  His art won’t be at Bar Luxe on Tuesday, but he’s an AMAZING artist who you should look into regardless.

Sunday, 1/18 at 10pm est -> Tanya Morgan, DJ Low Key & Aeon take over Subsoniq Radio on Sirius XM…

SUNDAY 1/18 at 10 pm est -> The day before the XM/Sirius merger, me, TM & Aeon all recorded an episode of Subsoniq Radio while we were on the Hiero tour.  Well with the merger shaking things up, the episode didn’t get to air as scheduled this summer.  Now that XM & Sirius have sorted things out, you can catch the Tanya Morgan Subsoniq Takeover on air tonight on Hip Hop Nation – channel 67 on XM Radio, channel 40 on Sirius or channel 847 on Direct TV.

We talked about the tour (everything from trannies in New Orleans to cockroaches the size of baby feet in hotel rooms), as well as the TM/88 Keys collab, TM’s acclaimed Bridge EP & a lot more, and we played a lot of rare/unreleased TM/Low Key/Aeon joints, you don’t wanna miss it.  If you don’t have Sirius XM and want to listen to the show, you can get a free trial subscription at listen.xmradio.com.  Last but not least, definitely stay tuned to Subsoniq Radio w/Doc & KB, it’s one of the best hip hop shows out right now.

Pics from the Family Affair/Estate LA/Rogue Status party I DJed over the weekend…

Last Saturday I DJed the launch party for the Estate LA/Rogue Status pop-up store at Family Affair and man, there were some BEAUTIFUL hats in the spot, along with 2 (a dope snowboard photography exhibit of the photography of Ian Ruther & Cole Barash), a bunch of crazy bikes, a lot of Denver’s fashion heads, free copies of Snowboard Mag and all the usual fresh gear you see at the shop.

Anyways, here are some pics from the opening, check out more at FamilyXAffair.com (that’s the homey Ant from Family Affair playin’ a few songs after a few drinks in the pic on there, I’m in the mirror, laughing my ass off) & if you’re in Denver make sure you come by the Estate LA Pop-Up store before it’s gone forever on New Year’s Eve.

Hypebeast, EXPN & High Snobriety all say you should come to the Family Estate:2 launch w/DJ Low Key at Family Affair on Saturday, 11/15…You’re coming, right?

SATURDAY, 11/15 from 8-midnight -> We’re setting off the Estate LA Pop-Up Store at Family Affair with a launch party featuring some BEAUTIFUL exclusive fitteds, a CRAZY snowboard photography opening from Ian Ruther & Cole Barash and great music by none other than me, myself & I aka DJ Low Key. Hypebeast has a couple of sneak peaks at some more of the fitteds, High Snobriety has some others & EXPN seems pretty hyped, check out their article below and whatever you do, don’t miss it. No cover / 1527 19th Street / Downtown Denver.

From EXPN.com -> The new king of fitted hats, with that street-smart swagger like no one on the corner, Estate LA is making moves with a first time pop-up store in Denver at Family Affair. (Pop Ups are super limited—out-of-nowhere—retail spots that are only open for a like second. Gonzo today … dunzo tomorrow. The concept is all the hype.) Off the top of my head: this is a damn fine idea for this cool kids company.

Estate will be throwing a big launch party November 15, 2008 with tons of gear that will exclusively be available at the Denver shop, including several special collab pieces and colorways. The store will be open from November 15th-December 31st.

Also of noted interest:”2″ the traveling snowboard photography exhibit featuring the work of Cole Barash and Ian Ruther will be up on display for artful appreciation.

Saturday, 11/15 -> Family Estate:2 Launch w/DJ Low Key at Family Affair…

SATURDAY,  11/15 -> Family Estate:2 Launch w/DJ Low Key.  The launch event for the collaboration between Denver’s Family Affair & Estate LA, and 2, a traveling photography exhibit showcasing the work of Ian Ruther & Cole Barash, 2 of the world’s premier snowboarding photographers. Music by DJ Low Key and exclusive gear from Estate LA & Family Affair.  DJLowKey.com, FamilyXAffair.com & EstateLA.com for more info. 8pm-midnight / 1527 19th Street / Downtown Denver / No cover.

FRIDAY, 11/8 from 7-10pm -> Straight from the press release…Culture Mob Presents REFLECTIONS: Two Great Tastes That Taste Great Together. The underground graffiti culture has reached a new elegance in Denver. The Street Sign Artist; Dunn, also known as the Signtologist (as coined by the famous MC Black Thought, from the legendary hip hop group, The Roots) is an artist best known for his unique style of painting portraits on recycled street signs. Inspired by artists such as Justin Bua, Dunn also has a background in graphic design and animation. His works grace the walls of artists both nationally and internationally including: Dave Chappelle, Kanye West, John Legend, Blackalicious and more. Rachel Crick is a social documentary photographer. Based in Denver, she has traveled to Seattle, New York, and Los Angeles photographing subjects as diverse as bi-racial families, a man’s journey to priesthood, Hip Hop artists and beyond. She has photographed a diverse array of musicians including Nas, Method Man, Rage Against the Machine, John Legend, De La Soul, Atmosphere, Les Nubians and more. The two artists have come together to produce an event that combines the beauty of both their art forms. Dunn has created a portrayal of Crick’s work on street signs, reflecting the uniqueness and individuality of both of their work. The result is Reflections: Two Great Tastes That Taste Great Together. Opening Night is November 7th at the Robusto Room and will feature Denver’s finest DJ – DJ Low Key spinning Hip Hop and R&B.  No cover / The Robusto Room (9535 Park Meadows Dr).
