Attention Producers…Red Bull Big Tune Registration is now open!!! Denver’s Big Tune is 6/24…

It’s that wonderful time of year again, when the weather gets warmer and producers everywhere get their best beats together for Big Tune, Red Bull’s producer battle series.  Last year, I helped Big Tune’s founders J Moore, Vitamin D, Jake One & DV One organize Denver’s first Big Tune, and the amount of talent that came out blew everybody away, including the 750+ people who turned out to root for some of Denver’s best producers and saw MPC phenom Boon Doc take the title.  This year, we’re gonna do it bigger and better (just wait til we announce the special guests who are coming out for it), but for now I just wanted to give producers everywhere a heads up that registration is now open.  There are events going down in Philadelphia, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Minneapolis, St. Louis, Ann Arbor/Detroit, Virginia Beach and of course, Denver (on Thursday, June 24th).  So if you’re a producer looking to compete, please head over to RedBullBigTune.com to register (the registration deadline for Denver is 6/10).  Best of luck to everyone entering, I can’t wait to see who ends up competing on the 24th.

Sunday, 4/4 -> Erykah Badu – New Amerykah Part 2 Release Party at Hapa Life w/DJ Low Key…

SUNDAY, 4/4 -> We’re celebrating the release of Erykah Badu’s latest album, New Amerykah Part 2:Return of the Ankh, at Hapa Life with me spinning all Erykah joints, all night long, special Badu themed rolls and drinks and giveaways from her record label (shouts to David at Universal).  The party starts at 8:30 and like every Sunday, we’ll be featuring Hapa’s legendary happy hour, featuring select 2 for $7 rolls, $3.50 sakes specials, 10% off for service industry and more.  The Sade release party we threw with Sony back in January was probably the craziest night since we started Hapa Life and 4/4 should be just as crazy, don’t miss it!!!  And oh yeah, cop the album if you haven’t already, it dropped yesterday and it’s well worth the purchase.  All ages / No cover / Hapa Sushi at 2nd & Detroit in Cherry Creek.

FRIDAY, 3/26 -> We’re welcoming b-boy icon/Freestyle Session founder CROS1 to the Solution for a special guest DJ set.  The San Diego hip hop legend will be out here to DJ for a certain hip hop gone mega pop group with an exceptional producer that will remain nameless, but we’re more concerned with hearing him spin a set for the b-boys and heads and that’s what CROS1 will be rocking for us.  Don’t miss a rare chance to see Cali hip hop icon rock in Denver!!! After the success of the Denver Thre3 Style, Red Bull hit me up to help organize & coordinate a unique Thre3 Style exhibition featuring some of the best DJs in the world.  With that said, catch Jazzy Jeff, Cut Chemist, J Rocc, Klever, Spider & the Juan MacLean as they rock their best 30 minute megamixes featuring at least three genres of music.  Skillz is our host for the party and Austin’s own DJ Manny is gonna set things off, plus we have a special last minute guest, the mighty MOS DEF!!!  So while I’m not DJing this event, there’s no place I’d rather be on Saturday night, I promise this party will be epic, unforgettable party!!!  All ages, no RSVP or wristbands required!!!

FRIDAY, 3/5 -> It’s our pleasure to announce the first Friday at the Solution’s new home, Bar Standard (1037 Broadway).  To celebrate our move to a nicer, newer venue, we’re starting things out at Bar Standard with our 4th annual J Dilla tribute and bringing out Detroit rap legends Slum Village to perform!!!   Plus, we’ll be giving away free DJ Low Key & Sounds Supreme – The Solution Tape #1 (hosted by U-N-I & Ro Blvd) CDs to the first 100 people, we’ve got complimentary donuts and a charity raffle for the J Dilla Foundation with prizes from Akomplice, Frank151/Denver Diggers, Stones Throw Records, Hapa Sushi, The Gro Project, Sound College & more.  There will also be Sound College J Dilla tees available for sale with proceeds going to the J Dilla Foundation, check out Maureen “Ma Dukes” Yancey wearing one at DAF #4 last month here and come out to get down for a good cause.  21+ / Music at 9.

Friday, 2/26 -> DJ Low Key & Sounds Supreme – The Solution Tape #1 Release Party + The Solution’s last night at the Funky Buddha…

FRIDAY, 2/26 ->  Me and Sounds Supreme are finally dropping the Solution Tape #1, hosted by our good friends U-N-I and Ro Blvd, just in time to celebrate our final night at the Funky Buddha.  We’ve held down the Funky Buddha’s rooftop for the last 2+ years and while our time there has been awesome, it’s time for us to move on to a bigger and better spot, where we can take the Solution to the next level.  With that said, we’re looking forward to our new home, a few blocks away at Bar Standard (1037 Broadway). Bar Standard has a stage, great sound system, impressive lighting, a recently renovated interior, two AMAZING rooftop decks for summer and all sorts of other useful features that we plan to make the most of (starting with our 4th annual J Dilla tribute on 3/5).

But anyways, back to the party on 2/26.  You know the music’s gonna be on point, we’ll be giving copies of DJ Low Key & Sounds Supreme – The Solution Tape #1 (hosted by U-N-I & Ro Blvd) to the first 100 people, we’ve got clothing giveaways from Akomplice and two lucky Solution fans are gonna win a dope new Denver Diggers fitted, courtesy of Frank151 (find out how to win in the post below).  Don’t miss your chance to witness the end of this chapter of the Solution!!!  No cover / 21+ / Music at 9 / More info at DenverSolution.com.
