Jay-Z Retrospective on 11/22… No imaginary players allowed…

Come celebrate the return of Jay-Z with a thorough retrospective of his career on Wednesday the 22nd. I’ll be playing Jigga’s classics, remixes, guest spots, original samples, unreleased songs and more all night long next Wednesday at Bar Luxe. Come through and hear everything from alternate versions of classics like “Can’t Knock The Hustle”, “Feelin It” and “Dead Presidents” with different lyrics to remixes like the “A Million And One Questions” (DJ Premier Remix), 9th Wonder’s Black Album remixes and the Timbo remix of “Hey Papi” to unreleased songs from The Blueprint, The Black Album and more. Plus, we’ll be screening Jay-Z videos, Fade To Black, Streets Is Watching & more all night.

Anyways, that’s just the tip of the iceberg, so come out to Bar Luxe and check it out on 11/22 (there’s no work the next day either, it’s Thanksgiving). Also, print out the invite above for a free drink to help set things off. Brought to you by A Step Ahead Productions & The 400.

Thanks NYC…

I gotta thank all the people in NYC who helped make my CMJ trip ridiculous… Thanks France (I owe you bigger than big), Ben (letting me finish MIA #2 at your house was clutch), Dom (for making it all happen), TM, Exile, Tyson (the best guest appearance in the history of The Wire), Daryl and the cats from Blow Magazine, Ryan from Rype Arts (the cover is nuts), Mikal, Bill (I think he’s the one who showed everyone the ridiculous used spot in Brooklyn), Borat and all the people who came out to the shows (Shannon, Daisy, EJ, Rosemary and her girls, Chuck, Dylan, Life, Mike Adict, K Slack, Median, George from Boston, ID, Filthy, Che Grand and all the Lessondary & Loud Minority cats, plus anyone who I forgot). I’ll have some more pics from the shows up soon (I hope you don’t mind that I “borrowed” your pics Rosemary)…

“Time’s most influential was impressive/especially since I wasn’t in the artist section”

I keep hearing cats talkin about Jigga fallin off. Personally I’m fine with “Show Me What You Got” (it’s as good of a lead single as “Change Clothes” and way better than “03 Bonnie & Clyde, his last two lead singles) and the other songs I’ve heard have been dope too. Anyways, between “Lost Ones” and these verses over Kanye’s “Grammy Family” beat from Funk Flex’s show (I guess he’s not quite as useless these days as I thought), even the haters should be quieted by now.

Big ups to everyone who came to Reconstruction last month…

The party was dope, the vibe flawless and all the acts came correct…Here’s a couple of pics for everybody who missed it, there are better ones (and some video clips) coming soon…Also, for those of you asking about the next Reconstruction party, stay tuned to the party’s page…

Tanya Morgan’s Von Pea, our host for the evening.

“I don’t know if you heard yet, but Tanya Morgan ain’t a woman…”

Approach is that dude. His live show is better than 99.9% of hip hop acts, trust.

Tanya Morgan, Mr Man (Bush Babees), Main Flow, Free Speech & Ro Blvd, Che Grand and more…

Exclusive joints from all these cats on Mixing In Action #2 (hosted by Tanya Morgan) coming soon…But until then, children don’t touch that dial, stay tuned (c) TM…
