Exclusive Dilla X Jigga X Mary J Blige Tee from Oakland…

A bootleg classic.  The always popular Jay-Z Dilla & Mary J Blige:Heart of the City tee that the homey Dom found after we saw the dope ass Jigga & Mary J show in Oakland (big up to the Shannons, Mook and the new homey DJ Tap 10*, I love what y’all are doing in the bay) last month.  I can only imagine how this goofy ish happened.
*By the way, make sure download Trackademicks & DJ Tap 10 – The Remixtape 2 & catch up on the Honor Roll if you don’t don’t already know.

Erykah Badu thanks the Radio Bums on the 12″ for “The Healer”

In case you didn’t already know, I’m a member of a super dope DJ crew called the Radio Bums (big up Chonz, Bedz, Petey, Styles & Fashion, Psycho, Vajra, Rectangle, Maseo, Amen, my partner at the Solution, Sounds Supreme, and that’s just part of the crew) that spans from Colorado to LA and beyond. I mention the crew because a talented up & coming (lol) singer by the name of Erykah Badu was thoughtful enough to recently thank us (alongside some of hip hop’s finest DJs & crews) on the back of her BEAUTIFUL (they rarely make records that are this nice these days with the sick ass art, colored vinyl, b-side, dope remixes and so on) double 12″ single for “The Healer” from her latest album, New Amerykah. Thanks Miss Badu, you sure do know the way to a DJ’s heart.

And oh yeah, make sure to cop that New Amerykah album if you haven’t already.

FRIDAY, 5/16 -> Catch the Akomplice Season 8 Release Party with Souls of Mischief, Collie Buddz and Akomplice team members Sounds Supreme & myself as we launch another RIDICULOUS line of Akomplice gear with a fashion show, giveaways and more (not to mention my little sister’s 21st birthday party…love ya Jess). Thursday, 5/15 -> 1993 at the Solution w/DJ Low Key & Sounds Supreme at the Funky Buddha

THURSDAY, 5/15 -> It’s 1993 at the Solution w/me & Sounds Supreme rockin all the dopest joints like it’s 1993 all night long on the Funky Buddha’s Roof (776 Lincoln). Everything from to Midnight Marauders to Doggystyle to 36 Chambers dropped that year plus we’ll be playing some older joints as well. For us 80s babies who weren’t at the club in ’93, it’s a rare opportunity to get down to the classics all night long, don’t miss it. No cover/21+/music at 9.

Camp Lo & Big Wheel “B-Side To Hollywood (Live at Vinyl, Denver, CO)”

On February 8th, history was made when Camp Lo not only played with a live band for the first time, but took it a step further & performed every track from their classic debut, Uptown Saturday Night, for the first time. Dameion Hines aka DJ Check One aka Dwele’s drummer aka the mastermind behind the award winning band Future Jazz Project brought out his new band Big Wheel (complete with trumpet & sax) to play every track from Uptown Saturday Night, plus a couple of gems from their other albums & their ridiculous new single “Lumdi” at Vinyl’s Refresh Fridays w/me & Sounds Supreme for a packed house, it was a night to remember.  Anyways, I already posted pics & talked about the show a few months back, but I finally got some audio from the show that I had to post.  I can’t put it all up, but here’s a little sample ->
Camp Lo/Sounds Supreme/Dameion Hines/me
(big up Vell on the pic)
* Sorry about the annoying drops but after all the work that I put in organizing the show, I’m not about to get jacked for the audio.  And by the way, make sure to cop the new Camp Lo aka the Lo album later this year, you know it’s gonna be dope.

Please vote DJ Low Key for Best Hip Hop DJ in the Westword Music Showcase…

Hot on the heels of the Solution w/me & Sounds Supreme being named “Best Hip Hop Night” in Denver by the Westword, I’ve been nominated for the 2008 Westword Music Showcase for “Best Hip Hop DJ” alongside the homeys DJ Bedz (Radio Bums in this), (the world famous) DJ Vajra, Cysko Rockwel (big up Crunk Brothers) & more. All the dudes I just mentioned are AMAZING DJs who inspire me and countless other DJs around the state/country/world and are super deserving of the award. With that said, since you are reading this on my site/blog, you might be a fan of what I do and in that case, you & your friends/family/co-workers/entire myspace network/etc are more than welcomed to vote for your boy DJ Low Key over at Westword.com. Thanks…
