Tanya Morgan, Blu & DJ Low Key at SXSW video + free TM w/DJ Low Key – Live at SXSW EP…

“and I’m like ‘I’m always nice’..”

My trip to Austin was INSANE…I should be wrapping up a huge SXSW post about it any day…In the meantime, here’s a link to a clip of me rockin’ with the almighty Tanya Morgan & special guest Blu at the Nahright/Smoking Section/Ruby Hornet showcase…Also, most of my two SXSW shows with Tanya Morgan (plus special guests Blu & Peter Hadar) have been making their rounds on the internet, download them below in all of their hectic, exciting glory…

Friday, 4/3 -> Scion Special Edition Afterparty at the Solution w/DJ Low Key & a special guest DJ…

FRIDAY, 4/3 -> My homie Zimmie from Pittsburgh (a fellow Red Bull Music Academy Mr. X…huh, what?) is putting together a dope art show called “Special Edition” where all sorts of artists from here in Denver customized blank 12″ record/album covers & they’re all gonna be displayed for First Friday. The art show starts at 8 at Th’Ink Tank (172 S. Broadway), so hit it up early for some great art, free PBRs, Red Bulls & cupcakes from the Shoppe and then head over to the Solution, my weekly party with Sounds Supreme & Westword’s pick for Best Hip Hop Night in Denver in ’08 (this year our category was gone…WTF) for the afterparty. It’s one of those rare nights when Sounds Supreme is out of town & it’s looking like we might having a guest DJ come rock with me. Afterparty located at the Solution on the Funky Buddha’s roof (776 Lincoln St). 21+ / No cover / Music at 9. Just to reiterate, go to the art show at Th’Ink Tank (I will NOT be DJing there) & then head over to the Funky Buddha for the afterparty (I will be DJing there), cool?

Catch me in A Love Supreme Sessions #8, then download U-N-I & Ro Blvd’s BRILLIANT album, A Love Supreme, for free…

My old friend Ro Blvd and the homies Y-O & Thurzday (aka U-N-I) have been working overtime for a loooooooong time on their brilliant new album, A Love Supreme, and it finally dropped at 12:01am this morning on some midnight sale iddish.  I’ve been raving about it since Ro sent me the snippet tape last year and trust me, the finished album is even better, easily one of the best albums I’ve heard in years.  It got an XL (aka 4/5) in the new XXL and truth be told, I’d probably have rated it higher if I reviewed it.  Anyways, check out the clip below from DRG Films’ great A Love Supreme Sessions behind the scenes series (#8 – The Release) featuring thoughts on the record from me, Tanya Morgan, El Prez, Cook Classics, Devi Dev, Bad Lucc, Faahz & more while you download the album for free (yeah…U-N-I & Ro are giving away one of the best records of 2009 for free, hit them on myspace/twitter/facebook/etc & tell ’em thanks).

THURSDAY 3/19 & FRIDAY 3/20 -> DJ Low Key at SXSW & the Red Bull Moon Tower

THURSDAY 3/19 & FRIDAY 3/20 -> In case you’ve missed the last few posts, let me catch you up to speed real quick.  In a few short hours, I’m heading down to Austin to rock two shows with the almighty Tanya Morgan at SXSW and spin at the infamous Red Bull Moon Tower.  Here’s the spots you need to hit up if you’re in Austin this week ->

THURSDAY NIGHT (starting at 10:30pm) -> 2 DJ Low Key sets at the Red Bull Moon Tower (invite only)

LATE THURSDAY NIGHT (A little before 1am, technically Friday morning) -> Tanya Morgan w/DJ Low Key, Pac Div, Myka Nine, Wiz Khalifa, Superstar DJs & more at Back Alley Social (303 W. 5th Street)

EXTRA LATE THURSDAY NIGHT/FRIDAY MORNING (a little before 3:30 am) -> DJ Low Key at the Red Bull Moon Tower (invite only)

FRIDAY AFTERNOON (around 3pm) -> Tanya Morgan w/DJ Low Key, Blu & Exile, Blue Scholars, B.O.B., Buff1, Mickey Factz, Black Spade, Brother Ali, Charles Hamilton, DJ Trackstar & more at the Nahright/TSS Event at Peckerheads (402 E. 6th Street)

Word is we’re gonna be rockin some new joints from Brooklynati at the Tanya Morgan shows (including the single, “So Damn Down“, you better download that iddish & learn the words quick…lol) & each set’s gonna debut different songs from one of the best records of ‘09 (just wait, you’ll see), so I recommend you try to catch both. As far as the Red Bull Moon Tower goes, it’s gonna be INSANE and that pretty much goes without saying.  I googled it the other other day and this is the first paragraph of the first result:

We arrived at the undisclosed location of the Red Bull Moon Tower around 2am for our tattooing and entry into what’s probably the most exclusive invite only event at SXSW 2008. Red Bull does things right which is one of the reasons why we love them – no company throws a party like Red Bull throws a party and the Moon Tower is yet another example of how to do things the right way. Wide open space, big stage, huge visuals, lotsa drinks and great music.

Say what up if you see me down there.

’nuff said.

.:DJ Low Key – Charts 3/17/09:.

1. Tanya Morgan “So Damn Down”
2. Trackademicks “Topsidin”
3. MF Doom – Born Like This
4. Focus, Kurupt, & Sha Stimuli “Homage To Pete Rock”
5. Kanye West “Stonger (Aeon’s Deep On The Beach Mix)”
6. Outasight & Tunji “Light, Camera, Action (Remix)”
7. Theo & Ced Hughes “Class of ’09”
8. Invincible & Beatminerz “Taxicab Confessions”
9. Kid Cudi & Charlie Smarts “This Guy Might Fall”
10. Cradle Orchestra & Black Thought “Live Forever”

Before I head to Austin I gotta make a quick stop in Brooklynati…

The other day I got this postcard from my homie Dominic talkin about how he was visiting Brooklynati and they have a restaurant called “Low Key’s Local Flava”.  It wouldn’t really be a big deal except for the fact that throughout the whole Hiero tour last summer I forced to Donwill & Von Pea from Tanya Morgan to start eating “local flava” in each city (aka whatever food the city’s known for) rather than their former tour diet of Subway.  By the end of the tour I remember them talkin about how they couldn’t go back to eat at Subway again, LOL.  Anyways, I looked into Low Key’s Local Flava on the Brooklynati Chamber of Commerce web site & it seems like my kinda spot. Brooklynati is always dope this time of year so I figured why not check it out on my way to Austin.  I’ll let y’all know how it goes.

And whatever you do, don’t. hate. my. crew. cuz. we. get. so. damn. down.

yes. so. damn. down.

* P.S. Catch me spinning sets at the Red Bull Moon Tower before & after the Tanya Morgan show on Thursday night/Early Friday morning. Yeah, this Moon Tower, the one dubbed “the most exclusive invite only event” in Austin & pictured below, you don’t wanna miss it. And definitely make sure you catch me DJing again at the second TM show on Friday afternoon in Nahright/TSS showcase, the lineup is crazy dope.  Damn, this week is about to get INSANE, see y’all down there.
