Last week was INSANE as we moved “the best hip hop night in Denver” (c) Westword to Bar Standard (just wait til we post the video) and this Friday should be no different. We’ll be celebrating Sounds Supreme’s last week before he heads out to DJ on a cruise ship for the next 5 weeks, as well as some of the birthdays of some of the freshest ladies in Denver, shouts to Alicia, Nicole & Sara. FRIDAY, 3/5 -> It’s our pleasure to announce the first Friday at the Solution’s new home, Bar Standard (1037 Broadway).  To celebrate our move to a nicer, newer venue, we’re starting things out at Bar Standard with our 4th annual J Dilla tribute and bringing out Detroit rap legends Slum Village to perform!!!   Plus, we’ll be giving away free DJ Low Key & Sounds Supreme – The Solution Tape #1 (hosted by U-N-I & Ro Blvd) CDs to the first 100 people, we’ve got complimentary donuts and a charity raffle for the J Dilla Foundation with prizes from Akomplice, Frank151/Denver Diggers, Stones Throw Records, Hapa Sushi, The Gro Project, Sound College & more.  There will also be Sound College J Dilla tees available for sale with proceeds going to the J Dilla Foundation, check out Maureen “Ma Dukes” Yancey wearing one at DAF #4 last month here and come out to get down for a good cause.  21+ / Music at 9.

Friday, 2/26 -> DJ Low Key & Sounds Supreme – The Solution Tape #1 Release Party + The Solution’s last night at the Funky Buddha…

FRIDAY, 2/26 ->  Me and Sounds Supreme are finally dropping the Solution Tape #1, hosted by our good friends U-N-I and Ro Blvd, just in time to celebrate our final night at the Funky Buddha.  We’ve held down the Funky Buddha’s rooftop for the last 2+ years and while our time there has been awesome, it’s time for us to move on to a bigger and better spot, where we can take the Solution to the next level.  With that said, we’re looking forward to our new home, a few blocks away at Bar Standard (1037 Broadway). Bar Standard has a stage, great sound system, impressive lighting, a recently renovated interior, two AMAZING rooftop decks for summer and all sorts of other useful features that we plan to make the most of (starting with our 4th annual J Dilla tribute on 3/5).

But anyways, back to the party on 2/26.  You know the music’s gonna be on point, we’ll be giving copies of DJ Low Key & Sounds Supreme – The Solution Tape #1 (hosted by U-N-I & Ro Blvd) to the first 100 people, we’ve got clothing giveaways from Akomplice and two lucky Solution fans are gonna win a dope new Denver Diggers fitted, courtesy of Frank151 (find out how to win in the post below).  Don’t miss your chance to witness the end of this chapter of the Solution!!!  No cover / 21+ / Music at 9 / More info at DenverSolution.com.

THURSDAY, 2/25 ->  The Church is gonna be a mad house, we’re bringing together 8 of Denver’s top party rocking DJs to see who can put together the hottest 15 minute set that incorporates 3 styles of music, plus we’re bringing in mixtape legend and Jay-Z tour DJ, Neil Armstrong, for a special guest performance. Friday, 2/12 -> Corpses Listening Party at the Solution w/DJ Low Key & Sounds Supreme, hosted by Food Chain…

FRIDAY, 2/12 -> We’ve got the Food Chain, one of Denver’s best rap groups, guest hosting the Solution for a special listening party for their new album, Corpses, which features guest spots from Talib Kweli, Big Pooh (Little Brother), Chaundon & Joe Scudda, plus the single “Who Ridin'”.  The Chain has been dropping jams since bursting onto the radar last year and are definitely one of my favorites in town.  Check out the video below and recent Westword feature to get familiar with the Chain.

SATURDAY, 2/6 in NYC -> It’s hard to explain how excited I am that Dee Phunk and the Rare Form crew added me to the bill for Donuts Are Forever 4.  Their Dilla tribute is one of the best in the world and I can’t wait to rock a set there, in honor of the late great Jay Dee.  If that wasn’t enough, I get to join an all-star cast of DJs; Questlove of the Legendary Roots Crew, Brainchild, Parler & Tara, plus special guest host Guilty Simpson, video by Hot Mop Films, live art by Tatyana Fazlalizadeh and best of all, we’re doing it for Ma Dukes and the J Dilla Foundation, yeah, I’m beamin.  The party is legendary, the lineup is crazy and last year there was a line around the block to get in, so make sure you come out early to the Bell House (149 7th St, between 2nd & 3rd Ave).  Doors at 10 / 21+ / $5 minimum donation (more encouraged).  Last but not least, shouts to the party’s sponsors, Stones Throw, Fusicology, Okayplayer, Brooklyn Bodega, Frank151, Decon & Ladies Love.

SUNDAY, 1/31 -> Come celebrate the return of Sade with the official Soldier of Love Listening Party at Hapa Life.  We’ll be rocking the whole album early (it doesn’t drop til 2/8), plus I’ll be spinning the best in soul and R&B music, as well as a ton of Sade and D’Angelo (gotta celebrate Voodoo‘s ten year anniversary too).  If that wasn’t enough, we’ve got giveaways from the label, special Sade themed rolls and drinks (rolls listed below, drinks TBA) and our usual happy hour with select 2 for $7 rolls, $3.50 sake specials, 10% off for service industry employees & more, starting at 8:30.  All ages / No cover / Hapa Sushi at 2nd & Detroit in Cherry Creek.
