Sunday, 10/10 -> Von Pea – Pea’s Gotta Have It Listening Party at Hapa Life w/DJ Low Key…

Sunday, 10/10 -> We’ll be previewing the official solo debut from Tanya Morgan’s own Von Pea at Hapa Life w/DJ Low Key.  I’ve already heard the album (being a rap group’s DJ has it’s perks…LOL) and it’s one of my favorites of 2010, plus IM Records is sending out some promo giveaways for the album as well.  And as always, catch everything Hapa Life is known for; the best in R&B and soul music, 2 for $7 rolls, $3.50 sake specials and more.  That’s dope music, hot sake and tasty sushi on the cheap, what more could you ask for?  Hapa Sushi in Cherry Creek (2nd & Detroit) /// 8:30-11 /// All ages.

The next couple of weeks are shaping up to be crazy…Lots of great stuff coming up, check it…

SATURDAY, 10/9 -> This has got to be one of the craziest events to ever hit Denver.  The national finals for Red Bull’s notorious Thre3 Style DJ competition are coming to town and bringing 10 of the country’s best party rocking DJs to Beta (1909 Blake St) for what promises to be an epic night.  Local favorite and Denver Thre3 Style winner, DJ Magmanimous, will compete against a who’s who of club DJs from around the country including DJ Joe Vega (Dallas), DJ Baby Jae (Houston), DJR (Phoenix), Morse Code (LA), DJ Apryl Reign (Cincinnati), DJ Mahf (St. Louis),  DJ MoMa (NYC), DJ Bonics (Pittsburg) & DJ M-Squared (Orlando) to see who can rock the party best while incorporating at least three genres of music into their set (hence the name Thre3 Style).  The winner goes to Paris for a shot at the worldwide Thre3 Style title and the competition is intense.

As if that wasn’t enough, the legendary DJ Jazzy Jeff (one of the best DJs of all-time!!!!!) & Questlove (world renowned drummer from the Roots and quite a DJ himself!!!!!) will be debuting their ‘1 DJ, 1 Drummer’ set for the first time outside of Philly (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).  The infamous Skillz will be hosting and at $10 a ticket, the party is gonna be packed, so make sure you come out early.  Last but not least, I’m humbled to be the one getting things started with an opening set for the evening, so come out early to check me and avoid the inevitable lines.   18+ / Doors at 8.  More info at RedBullThre3StyleUSA.com and pre-sale tickets here (this party will sell out, I’d HIGHLY recommend you get a ticket ASAP).

“Dear Mr. 3 Stacks: How has your summer been? I see that your buddy Antwan dropped an album recently. Do you mind dropping some FULL-LENGTH material before the year ends? If not, I’m going to have to keep taking these random one-minute leaks and adding some of your other verses to make them sort of resemble full songs. I know you creative types, but come on..at least blow our wigs back with a guest verse a la “Walk It Out” or the above, “Everybody”. Thanks King Most

Kanye West & Raekwon “Runaway Love (Zimmie De-Bieber Refix)”…Shouts to the homie DJ Zimmie…

I don’t hate Justin Bieber, but I wouldn’t call myself a fan either.  With that said, I’m not mad at the Pittsburgh-based homie DJ Zimmie’s Bieber-less version of Kanye West’s recent “Runaway Love” remix featuring Raekwon.  Here’s Zimmie’s words on his edit: “In case you were unaware, there’s a Justin Bieber track with Raekwon and Kanye over the ‘Wu-Tang Clan Ain’t Nuthin to Fuck Wit’ beat.  I believe Kanye did the remix (SMH).  I fixed this little problem by removing Bieber.  Detuned the original to match and made an intro / outro.  The little turd still shows up at the end a bit though.” Find out more about DJ Zimmie here and download the edit below.
